Upper School students Cheyenne Savage and
Nick Zerman were stars of Delphi's recent
production of "Blithe Spirit."
SPRING DRAMA PRODUCTION
Delphi's annual spring drama production, "Blithe Spirit," was performed to sold-out
audiences at the Banshee Theatre in Burbank on May 2, 3 and 4. Middle and Upper
School students did a fantastic job performing this classic Noel Coward comedy about
a ghost who comes back to haunt her husband after being called from the spirit world
in a seance. Director Mrs. Dewey and producer Mrs. Roeschke were very proud of their
budding actors. Some of the star performers included Nick Zerman, Sarah Waterkamp,
Cheyenne Savage, Krista Baysdorfer, Matt Schlaich, Tia Marashlian and Rebecca Benest.
PARENTING WORKSHOP
On Saturday, April 19, Delphi held a Parenting Workshop for parents of current and
prospective students. This interactive workshop was delivered by Delphi's Dean of
Studies, Mrs. Nancy Smith and went over topics including why challenges make your
child happier, how to help your child become more responsible, and how to help your
child reach his or her goals. Here's what parents had to say about the workshop:
"I enjoyed this seminar tremendously and learned a few things that I was doing wrong.
I think we can always learn new things that can better our lives."
"It was so great to participate in this workshop. It really brought me a lot of
understanding and inspiration to help me and my child. I got more understanding
about what my son's situation is now and why I sometimes fail when I try to talk
to him. It's invaluable information, and now all I'm thinking is how to create a
bigger game between us and make it fun to achieve our goals. Thank you so much!"
"I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop. I am a grandmother now, but I wish I would
have had this information when I was bringing up my children. I can and will certainly
use this technology whilst helping bring up my youngest grandchildren. I would love
to attend further workshops!"
Stay tuned for the next Parenting Workshop!

ALL-SCHOOL SCIENCE FAIR
This year's all-school Science Fair was held on Friday, March 28, and was bigger
than ever! In fact, there was so much student participation that Dr. Fisher, the
Science Instructor, was forced to spread out the displays and experiments to classrooms
other than the Science Lab. Some highlights from the fair included Lower School
participants with incense tornadoes, eggs sucked into bottles and volcanoes. In
the Elementary School, 10-year-old Adnan Abdeen did a "Consumer Science" investigation
on which bandage sticks the best in water. It turned out that the generic drugstore
brand stuck the longest, which was also the least expensive. Several Upper School
students, Kenny Hanson, Matt Schlaich, Alex Rodriguez and Travis D'Arezzo, built
a hovercraft powered by a leaf blower and delighted the students and staff by giving
them rides just outside the Science Lab. For an encore, they successfully floated
Mr. Powell, our rather tall music director. The students made many interesting scientific
discoveries this year, and we're looking forward to see what they discover at next
year's Science Fair.

ANNUAL EASTER EGG HUNT & GAMES
Young Delphi students and local community members had tons of Easter fun at Delphi's
annual Easter Egg Hunt & Games on Saturday, March 22. Put on by Delphi's Middle
School Student Government, this free community event had fun activities such as
an egg toss, bake sale, egg hunt and raffle. We look forward to more Easter fun
at next year's Easter Egg Hunt & Games.
