Our effectiveness can be seen in the results we obtain with our students. Our Upper School students take the California Achievement Tests (CAT) annually, regularly scoring at least one grade level ahead of age and quite often two and three grade levels ahead. But the results that mean the most to us, can be found in the attitudes and behavior of our students as well as in the enthusiasm and support from our parents. We invite you to find out for yourself what our students and their parents say they have gained from the Upper School program.

Success Stories from Students

"This school is beautiful, and I'm not just talking about the campus! I've had thirteen years at Delphi, and I have never regretted one minute of it. However, I also haven't been able to truly appreciate the value of this education until I reached this point. Now, looking back on all I have done and learned, I can see how the pieces of the education fit together. There probably isn't enough paper or time to write down all the wins I have had during my time here, so I'll just share a few of the major ones.

"A year ago, I could not have spoken in front of a group of more than five people without having my heart pound and my sotmach churn. Public speaking was a task that I'd dread for days beforehand, and when I did get around to talking to a group of people, I couldn't be myself--I would want nothing more than to be somewhere else. Today, however, I am able to comfortably stand in front of a large group of people and really see them and talk to them just as I talk to individuals every day. I can even be myself when I'm talking, whereas I used to just mechanically spit out whatever words I had to say and then rush away.

"Another huge win I've had, which was sort of woven in with the people-confronting required by public speaking, was that I became a leader with high integrity. I used to be worried about what people thought of me, and I was always afraid of having to take control of a group, or even of an individual, and get them to do something. Through all the activities I had to take part in, as well as the knowledge I gained from the Leadership course, I gradually built up my self-certainty, lost my fear of people and perfected the ability that I had always had, but which had been buried under my self-doubt and non-confront. I now can truthfully say that I am a leader, and I have the integrity to do what I know is right, despite what others may think.

"I've had so many other gains while going to this school, but to sum it up, I now am fully developed in the areas of knowledge, ethics, integrity and leadership. I know I can achieve anything I want to, and I know I am going to help make a change for the better on this planet!"

"Having just graduated Delphi's high school, there are a few things I would like to communicate. Delphi Academy not only gave me the normal education that I would get at any other school, it gave me much more than that. It gave me real knowledge that I could use in life. I gained the ability to communicate with other people and the knowledge of how to run organizations. I now have the capability to lead a group, and this is an important ability that will help me succeed in life. I also gained the ability of having a high level of personal ethics and integrity. The program also raised my responsibility level. I had to take charge of my education and organize all of my other activities along with my schoolwork.

"I feel that I will go out into the world and succeed. Any barriers that get in my way, I will just handle and overcome them. Delphi Academy really gave me life skills that I will use to succeed in life!"

"Delphi was truly an amazing experience. The courses, books, and seminars all work together in order to shape a student into a capable adult. Now that I have completed Form 8, I feel I can overcome any barrier and surmount any challenge that comes my way. The tools I gained from Delphi are essential to one’s survival in life. One of the tools I value the most was the leadership skill I gained on Form 8. It is quite surprising to see yourself running people and getting things done when you thought you could never do it before. I am sure these skills, as well as others, will help me in my career as a doctor.

"After completing Delphi, I came to realize my full potential as a student and adult, and it is an amazing experience to realize what you can truly accomplish if you put your mind to it. I really enjoyed Delphi, and the knowledge I gained has been key to my transformation from a high school student into an adult."

On completing the Investigations in Physical Science course...
"I didn't want to do this course at first because I thought I had no interest in electricity. Then at the beginning of this course I actually cleared up some basic misunderstood words I had in this area, and it suddenly became interesting to me! I learned so much about electricity and magnets and how they apply to life."

"The most important thing to me about my education at Delphi was the literature program. As I am an aspiring writer, the various books of classical literature were extremely valuable to me. I learned so much about history, different viewpoints, and individual values, but most importantly, I increased my ability to write. Looking at other great authors and their writing styles and learning about the fine art of writing has helped me in ways too complex to fathom. I hope one day to duplicate the incredible feat that Thomas Paine achieved with Common Sense or the one George Orwell achieved with 1984.

"The other parts of this program were great in ways I won't fully understand for years, I am sure. The public speaking, leadership, communication abilities and countless other skills I’ve gained will continue to benefit me immensely.

"Thank you, Delphi Academy!"

On graduating with Honors...
"During my time here at Delphi, I have learned so much about many different subjects, but during Form 8, I learned a lot that has already helped me and will continue to help me as an adult. I studied subjects such as leadership, public speaking, health, religion, political philosophy, poetry and logic. I was also lucky enough to get the chance to go to Sri Lanka to help with the tsunami relief. This trip to Sri Lanka showed me how able I am, and I used so many of the skills I learned while on Form 8. Because of my Delphi education, the trip to Sri Lanka was very successful, and I came back knowing that I am ready to go out in the world and make my mark.

"Now that I've graduated, I know I'm ready to begin my life as an adult. I'm going to make some changes in this world, and at the end of my life, I will go down in history as having succeeded and attained my goals."

"I have been at Delphi since September of 1989. When I first started, I had no idea what I was in for. As I slowly worked my way through the Forms, I came to realize what Delphi was all about: Knowledge, Leadership, Integrity & Ethics (from the logo). Each Form offered something different to me that helped me to become a Delphi graduate. After finishing Form 7, I knew that I really had my education under my own control. I was at Delphi for me because I knew it was the best place for me to be.

Now that I've finished Form 8, I've realized just how important those four points on the Delphi emblem are to surviving well. I know that I will apply them for the rest of my life. Thank you, Delphi!"

Success Stories from Parents

"Recently our daughter, Erin, graduated from Delphi Academy. This was easily the proudest day in her life and made us as her parents extremely proud of her and her great accomplishment. Erin started at Delphi from the fourth grade of a public school. From the beginning, we were impressed with Delphi. Erin was not permitted to attend initially as it was determined that it was not her own decision. This refusal in itself actually assured us that Delphi, even in those early years, was more interested in the welfare of the child rather than just having another student tuition.

"Erin soon decided that she really did want to go to Delphi and her wonderful education began. Her academic program was truly incredible. We were always amazed at the genuine quality of the curriculum and the evaluation of importance within that curriculum. The literature program alone was worth the price of the ticket. The academics are so superb that we are convinced that many of the students will not even realize what they have until they are in positions later in life and will, through necessity, compare themselves and be compared with others who have not had this great education.

"Beyond the academics, however, is the whole environment and culture of Delphi. Erin was taught early on to put away pettiness and super-concentration on self. It has never ceased to amaze me how these kids legitimately pull for the other guy. What pleasure Erin always took in seeing her classmates succeed in whatever they were doing. Beyond the wonderful education, Delphi has been a journey of character, of good will expressed, and a time of enlightenment regarding those people and things around one. Whatever Erin pursues in life, she has all of the academic skills and leadership skills to excel. As important, however, and in no small way attributable to Delphi and the wonderful staff and students with which she has been in association so long, Erin has the qualities of a great heart.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."
Gary and Carol, Parents
