FAQ

When can a student enroll in Delphi Academy?

Students may enroll at any time throughout the summer and fall terms, space permitting. Delphi students advance based on demonstrated competence rather than by age or number of months spent at one level.

Arriving students are given thorough diagnostic tests and interviews, from which a complete academic program is designed. Students move through these programs as rapidly as they are learning and demonstrating competence. For more specifics, go to Procedures.

Do you have a program for the gifted student?

The Delphi approach is particularly well-suited to the brighter child because it allows students to advance as rapidly as they are learning and demonstrating competence.

How young can a student be to enroll in your program?

As soon as the child is ready to enter a preschool setting, he or she can enroll. This is determined by the parents and Admissions.

I see you mention L. Ron Hubbard in your materials. What does he have to do with Delphi Academy?

L. Ron Hubbard was an American philosopher and educator who extensively researched the field of learning and identified barriers to study that individuals face when trying to learn something new. More importantly, he developed methods to overcome these barriers that any person can apply. Mr. Hubbard’s written works on education and child development are applied within the school’s program and are directly related to our success in helping students and families.

Is this a religious school?

Delphi Academy is an independent, non-sectarian school open to all religious faiths.

Many people are familiar with Mr. Hubbard as an author and founder of the religion of Scientology, thus this question is common. The school’s policy is one of respect for the religious beliefs of others and nothing of a religious nature is required of students or families.

Do you accept students with “behavior problems” or “learning disabilities?”

We do not have a program to handle children with serious problems but have found that students are often mislabeled as having “behavior problems” or “disabled.” For some of these children, our basic teaching method and study techniques are all that are utilized to get a student back on track.

What qualifications must a student have to be accepted into Delphi Academy?

We evaluate each student on an individual basis after we have given him or her our Admissions test, reviewed previous school records and conducted at least one interview.

How do you view the role of parents in a child’s education?

We see parent involvement as critical. In our close-knit, family-oriented community, we end up developing strong bonds with our students and this relationship extends to the whole family. In a sense, you have invited the school into your family, and we are aware of the trust and partnership that implies. Your active participation with the school in your child’s education is more than important. We view it as essential.

Do you have a financial aid program?

Yes. Please contact the admissions office for details and an application.
