Alumni Profiles

At Delphi, the students’ own purposes are clarified and developed. Courses are studied after the student has a reason or purpose for doing the course. Then by learning the materials using a very workable study technology that ensure they can apply what they have studied, Delphi Alumni go on to have successes in a very wide range of fields.

In this section are a few profiles of our alumni.

Zack Gainsforth/Scientist

Zack Gainsforth

Zack Gainsforth (Class of 1996) graduated from Delphi Academy of Los Angeles and immediately went to work as a computer programmer, gaining a position in a top-ranking software company straight after Delphi. Having done one of his Delphi apprenticeships there, the company did not hesitate to hire him. While enjoying his work, he longed to become a scientist and so applied and was accepted at UC Berkeley on a scholarship.

“At Delphi, I was able to really define my goals and purposes in life. And I learned the value of persistence. Most schools only focus on knowledge but knowledge doesn’t get you there. I discovered that intelligence would only determine how fast you go, but it’s persistence that determines whether you get there at all. The only way you get there is by continuing to go there. It’s almost brain-dead simple but it’s true,” Zack observes.

Graduated from Berkeley, Zack now works at the Space Science Laboratory on the campus. He has helped extract comet particles from the Stardust collector (which had fired out to a comet and returned with its material) and now works at analyzing the particles to learn more about comets.

Hailey Foster/Ecologist

Hailey Foster

Hailey graduated from UC Davis with honors and a degree in Evolution and Ecology with a focus on Wildlife Conservation, plus a minor in Political Science. She then went on to work as the VP Public Services for Earth Organization, a non-profit organization focused on finding solutions to global environmental issues.

Earlier as a student, Hailey did not believe she had any aptitude for studying the sciences. But at Delphi, the approach is to find a purpose in all subjects prior to starting courses in them. She soon discovered her love of animals translated into a keen interest in science. Though Hailey says studying science was not easy for her at first, she found by applying Study Technology to her courses, her fascination for the subject grew to the point that science became her major. Her aptitude and competence in the sciences grew; she went on to graduate from UC David with honors in a science major and a political science minor.

As Haley puts it, “I’m not special. I went to Delphi and I’ve used what I learned about myself and the world to get the job I’ve always dreamed I would have.”

Alison Sudol/Singer

Alison Sudol

Alison Sudol (Class of 2001) became the lead singer and songwriter for a local band in Los Angeles after graduating. She went on to write, record, engineer and co-produce a new demo CD which got the attention of the major recording labels and soon signed a record deal with Virgin Records as the band A FineFrenzy .

Her debut album, One Cell in the Sea, was released on July 17, 2007, and peaked at number 91 on the Billboard 200 chart. She has also been very successful in the charts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and France, amongst other countries. Her music has been featured on numerous television shows as well as on the soundtrack of the film Sleepwalking. She has developed a strong fan base in the United States and elsewhere with her lyrical and poetic music and her strong emotional themes.

“In life, people seem surprised at my maturity and responsibility as an artist and as a person. The ethics, research and communication skills I learned at Delphi have helped me tremendously both as a songwriter and musician, and now as a recording artist. Understanding targets and having a good work ethic contributes everyday to being able too make professional deadlines. Developing a good vocabulary and having a thorough understanding of major literary works has helped me as an artist because I have a wealth, a bank account if you will, of words to pull from when writing songs to communicate my ideas. I am so glad that I completed the program at Delphi. It was hard work, but it gave me a wonderful foundation for life.”

Eric Reuveni/Musician & Executive
Terra Roeschke/Web Manager

Terra and Eric Reuveni

Eric Reuveni (Class of 1998) married Terra Roeschke (Class of 2001) in 2004. In 2003 Eric won an Emmy for the James Cameron project “Expedition Bismarck.” Both then went on to work for Scorpion Designs, a web design company founded by Delphi Alumni Rustin Kretz (Class of 1997). Eric is VP Operations and Terra is the web content development manager where she puts to successful application her writing skills learned and honed at Delphi.

Terra says about Delphi “the curriculum actually prepared me for life. I know that one can study for a particular field or specialty, but how many people can say they studied for life? Because of what I learned at Delphi I have been able to excel in anything I have taken on, personally and professionally. I know my life – my job, my marriage and my relationships with my family and friends – would have turned out differently if I hadn’t gone to Delphi.”
